I know the feeling. I think it can also be referred to as 'herding cats'. :)
Well Roman...new things are in the works. It's very slow moving though because, as you know, it's just me working on it all.
Anyway, it's worth it. I say this not because Open Source Religion has not even seen the tip of its potential here; it hasn't, but it will. I'm working every day to get that ball rolling and when it does we're going to have something blooming that no one in the world has seen before: a self governing, living religion.
I've explained my role in ED, but got to thinking - my eldest daughter, an RN, has decided to go on the med school. She will be mature that's for sure! I applaud her courage and know if she puts mind to doing this she will achieve it, I have sent out an email inviting her to join this site, hopefully she will - if so who knows, maybe you can help her.
thanks for your consideration
Enjoying you consciousness/matter postulations. I'm dense when it comes to reading through this kind of stuff. It is the source of considerable churning. For a second I was seeing a relationship between:
1. Space
2. Movement through Space (Time)
3. Consciousness (awareness of movement through space)
Your comments provide much to think about. Can't wait to read about how Self or Soul fits in to the emerging view. Cheers
Watched the 1st in a 3 part TV series you would be interested in seeing. Unfortunately you probably don't get the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the UK. The subject was the Human Spark and in episode one - why did Neanderthals not evolve their behavior over tens of thousands of years and what makes humans - human. What is the human spark. Here's link to PBS - more.
I would be delighted to add my creative mind to anything you would like me to do. I have this hunch of doing something for you ... visually... along the lines of what the band KLF has done as an example...

Your comments on illusion are spot on. Contextualizing seems to be our collective struggle at this time for everyone. If we allow for reality in and of itself simply to be what it is holistically, then we can contextualize To that. If you think about it Greeks did not contextualize their thoughts they simply stated we can perceive and moved towards a structured understanding. I might add I think Plotinus was about as clear about how you can have a structured view and what it is based on for his day. His philosophy of course speaks from his experiences as well. very Zen actually, although i've read little, i have read his overview perspective.
Today we are just now starting to see that there is a contextual structure as well as simply a structure to everything. So if we always start with an over arching of singularity then we can contextualize to that rather than trying to wrap our brains around that and capture it so to speak is really the same path that has been described in so many ways by many many people in the past. What is old is new as always...Far from being nutty I'm going to have to agree with you, so maybe we are both nutty but what the hell.....LOL. I think not!!
My friend, haven't forgotten your request to dive into the male-god discussion. My son, now w/o any prescription drugs whatsoever, is doing quite well. He is in 1/2 general ed classes and 1/2 special ed classes. There is a high population of aspies in the NW USA (what w/ Boeing engineers, Microsoft, etc.) as well as somehow linked to places that have less sunlight annually. I rented a one room apartment in a wealthy community w/ the best school system in the state so my son could participate in their special education programs. His main teacher has a PhD. Although H is in middle school, the elementary school here has an entire program for aspies due to the number of students diagnosed w/ that. H has made several good friends that he sees in several classes ea day. I convinced the school to let him into a daily art class otherwise reserved for older students. It is his favorite class and a reason he will attend school. There were other adjustments as well - dealing w/ a problematic paraprofessional (my son has fulltime paraprofessional help), additional changes I won't go into but involving a lot of time and perseverance - which, as you know, I am blessed with. Mostly, I think he was overwhelmed and took school awhile to make courses challenging enough but not too challenging. H also attends a yu gi oh game club and chess club, both weekly. Working w/ school counselor to help H learn to address problems w/ school at school instead of coming home and decompensating w/ mom. At one point, I basically let him know that it was too stressful for me and asked him to try and contain the upsets more. More than anything, being off gluten has made the most difference. Anyway, wanted to check in. Say thanks for support and succinct and right on thoughts (as always). Best wishes to you in your work and life.
Well, how interesting to be invited to join the male god subject. OK - will do soon. My son, who has Asperger's syndrome, probably also has early onset bipolar (mom's diagnosis, not confirmed by outside medical professional), has been in crisis, making list of ways to kill himself, and more. Very demanding. Arguing about the male god subject might be a good diversion. I call all those monotheistic religions the "Big Guy in the Sky" religions.
I listen when you agree and I listen even closer If you don't agree, That's about as big of a compliment as I can make. My brain is a bit different and I've had to learn how to get it functioning correctly. It can hyper elevate which is great for work, I am a project manager in construction so hyper elevation on topics helps visualization, it can become a problem if it spins out as it did once years ago. I had to can everything and just follow Carl rogers experience quote to the tee and that helped. Going through that life spin out and coming back full force is nice and I've been using this sight as a bit of Beta testing for my thinking so to speak so i appreciate your comments. I am fascinated by my machine discussion now with the group and how that obvious problem of this thinking is transparently invisible by the Geek sector. It's their personal blind spot that I discovered previously but I didn't know that it was ultimately their GOD so to speak, kinda creepy actually and yet fascinating as well. They can't seem to understand every piece of art has said THIS IS BAD BAD BAD", it's like they have never watched a movie or something.
David
PS
Are you really a PHD and a musician. damn i've got to get busy.
It's all good man. :)
Personally I really enjoyed The Power of Now. I didn't agree with everything in the book but it completely convinced me that Now is the only time that exists.
But that doesn't really have anything to do with whether I would take money for promoting the book. Business is business. But there are always exceptions. For instance I would feel pretty odd selling copies of the Bible on the front page. But that's because we're a progressive movement.
It would make more sense if we had our own little online bookstore, which I do plan on implementing.
Thanks for all the info re where/how to find your music. I'll definitely check it out. The discussion I thought you'd find intellectually engaging, and is very active, is TSC Discussion - Time: is 'Now' the Only Time That Exists? Lotsa activity there, so easy to find in that activity bar.
Sound wonderfully productive and engaged-busy. Me, too. Life is good!
You know, there's always one question I've had that you never answered - what was the turning point, what led to you leaving the Christian ministry - and into whatever followed (psychology? rock music?) - I've always wondered how does someone change and leave fundamentalism behind.
So, someday when you have a minute, maybe you can drop me a line about this. No hurry.
Best wishes and keep me informed about your work, in music, writing, or otherwise.
This is the url of the Museu de Imagens do Inconsciente (Museum of Images of the Unconscious), an important institution near my hometown. In the attachment you'll find some images (very small ones, unfortunately) of paintings from artists in that museum. All of them psychotics who escaped electric shock and insulin coma treatments thanks to Dr. Nise da Silveira, who started the art psychotherapy service at the institution where she used to work and then founded this museum. She was a disciple of C.G.Jung, and you'll find his picture looking at paintings on the museum walls. Maybe Elliot would be interested in that. Unfortunately the museum's website is monolingual.
Then, there's that 3rd category: those of us who say "screw being normal. Why would I want to be normal? Yes, how boring. How much there is in life that is so interesting, including the creative process."
At this point, I have to wonder if maybe part of the problem is the pressure to be normal and the desire to conform. - making it society that is sick. Of course, this isn't news. I'll have to look up your Assag... what's his/her name you mentioned on my page - sounds intriguing and not familiar to me.
Hey sorry for not getting back to you sooner. He's an idiot, I know. Just keep me up to date on what's going on and I'll drop the hammer again if needed. But don't leave, please. You're one of the gems here. Even I learn from you ;).
Thanks for support. I think he's off his meds, too. He's done this to me/ w/ me before and it got worse. I pushed back and that worked - for awhile. I'm not going to push on him anymore. I think peasant justice is required here; i.e. the group of good guys go after him and teach him a lesson. Roberto thinks I should just chill out and be understanding. At times like this, being the only active woman of RG.... sigh.
Jeff, I must ask myself why, as you say, people are worshiping science. Can they not find frameworks, mystery, hope and challenge in spirituality?

Goodmorning Kernal,
Over a year ago there was a very strident debate between a mormon and I. It was ugly, and I learned from it. I mispoke earlier when I refered to this thread, I meant this topic. You'll note I haven't participated much. I don't w…

Kernal, you're a might full of yourself there bud. I didn't bring this thread back to life, and have resisted jumping into another me vs. mormon debate. Just not worth the trouble. I guess I've grown up a little in my time on RG, even at 49 years.…

When we fully understand teleportation, if it is really possible, maybe we will know how beings from another world manage to visit this one, as some claim to have been visited? The realm of possibilities expand as we learn.
Then, if there is a god of reality, of whatever form reality is, that god would have to reveal himself to us, before we can know of him. Otherwise, why bother trying to define or redefine God? What purpose does defining for redefining God serve? Let…
