Redefine God - Open Source Religion and Religion 2.0

The Open Source Religion & Spirituality Project and Religion 2.0

Sidian M.S. Jones

Looking for help from someone with basic understanding of webhosting and wordpress.

I'm currently installing Wordpress MU, and then BuddyPress on a DreamHost account, and this is where the new Redefine God will reside. It's challenging, but only because I lack some of the basic knowledge for the names of some functions and how they work (DNS Name servers, MyPHP, MySQL, etc).

Even so I'm able to accomplish quite a lot by following tutorials around the net, but this would all be SO much quicker and easier if one of you had some understanding of these things and would be willing to help.

If you are that person and enjoy problem solving, please message me personally.

Sid,
Listen up. There is a need for upgrading systems in governments. Many years this has been a specialized domain of people building a kludge of software. My own county has no way of taking information in, processing it or directing it to it's various destinations. I struck on this how much social networking creates a management structure of data. Now there is more to how this structures up including how forms are generated etc. but as the Database aspect has become more integrated into the web, this creates amazing tools that previously would not be developable with any ease. So imagine my little county, you come in create the intranet social site, information is passed around, tracking is set up for documents, Outside the forms are available for filling out online, they are distributed correctly and tracking of those documents is implemented very much like a UPS system. Management of the system is at this level of dialog so there what ever document is in the system the managment can track. The roadblocks of sitting on peoples computers or Desk is more clearly manageable. My county can't afford 100K for the system they want, but I will bet a zillion dollars that particular system completely sucks, is propriatory, is old in that it was written during Dos days as so much of this softwar e has been and that this social networking is creating a framework to replace that.

Are you saying you've got a 100k client on your hands? I would loooove to get in on that!
May I remind you I'm highly skilled in Photoshop? :)

Man this topic got me rolling on another idea and that is the base power of social networking that comes from wordpress and buddypress working together. The scalability and functionality is amazing and they development of new components is exciting. Our local small government needs a new informational system to handle their information distribution needs and this structure as an internal system with external forms for the public and creating distributions is powerful. They are looking at 100K for a propriatory, and i'm sure clunky system when I sense that right here there is foundational pieces to put something together. PHP programing is probably needed at some level to link different components but I don't think it's insurmountable. Thanks in the very least at forcing me to look more closely at what's going on in this area. I think buddypress adds some interesting abilities to wordpress that can be used in interesting ways that haven't been applied yet.

Jeff, I must ask myself why, as you say, people are worshiping science. Can they not find frameworks, mystery, hope and challenge in spirituality? Fortunately, it is not necessary that everyone descend into extreme addiction (vice) to develop profo…

Given these "problems" with the Bible, if the God of the Bible is the God of reality (as I believe He is), I do not wonder at all about His reasons for bringing forth the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is the anchor of my faith in Jesus Christ.…

Goodmorning Kernal, Over a year ago there was a very strident debate between a mormon and I. It was ugly, and I learned from it. I mispoke earlier when I refered to this thread, I meant this topic. You'll note I haven't participated much. I don't w…

Kernal, you're a might full of yourself there bud. I didn't bring this thread back to life, and have resisted jumping into another me vs. mormon debate. Just not worth the trouble. I guess I've grown up a little in my time on RG, even at 49 years.…
