The Daily Cultist

A Lesson in Accountability?

In a small Texas town, ( Mt. Vernon ) Drummond’s bar began construction on a new building to increase their business. The local Baptist church started a campaign to block the bar from opening with petitions and prayers. Work progressed right up till the week before opening when lightning struck the bar and it burned to [...]

The Core Equation

If we are to call something "God" it should be the most all-encompassing concept in the human language. The ultimate "God" must inevitably be the most all-encompassing. If the definition of God does not portray this, it must be redefined.
Yet if God is all-encompassing then we are God.
All-Encompassing; adjective- covering or applying to all; all-inclusive; blanket: an all-embracing definition.
All-Encompassing could also be defined as all that which is.

All That Which Is

Is a phrase of unifying and moves all concepts, all existence and importantly all duality into a singular. We are One.
Good and evil are only concepts in our minds and would cease to exist without us. There is no good and evil, only That Which Is.
There is no war or peace, natural or unnatural, treatment or placebo, you or me; there is only That Which Is.
However there IS good and evil and war and peace, etc, as you can clearly observe, as defined, by you. This seems contradictory, this is called a paradox and will be explained below.
Paradox; noun- A statement or proposition that seems self-contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth.

The Paradox of Existence

Allows that existence stands as a unity and paradoxically as an individuation. Is a drop of water not the ocean?
We experience ourselves as individuals and are yet physically unified with existence. How can you possibly truly remove something from existence?
Good and evil do exist inasmuch that they exist in our minds, because of us.
Also, good and evil, war and peace, natural and unnatural, all these do not exist inasmuch that they are only concepts. Yet a concept is still a thing. A thought is still a thing.

God-Self/Individual-Self

Are the same, but for topics sake let us say that the individual self (that possesses the mind and body) is the one who wants, needs, prefers and judges, is male or female. And the God-Self (our self as unified with That Which Is) is the self which transcends all desire yet envelopes all desire, embodies both genders yet has no gender at all.
The God-Self sees there is no such thing as theft, how can God steal from itself? The God-Self sees there is no death, through all eternity forms have only fallen to rise as something else.
The God-Self transcends all dualities yet embodies them.

Paths

Are the nearly inevitable myths we design throughout our lives. I'm always sad when it rains, or, I could never do that. Paths tint your glasses and color your world. Without them you are without desire, without preference. This is neither good nor bad. What matters is what suits you best.
Those who take extreme colored OR transparent paths are often exalted and said to be "god-like": rock stars, monks, artists, priests, athletes, even killers. They become archetypal.
Archetype; noun- A collectively inherited unconscious idea, pattern of thought, image, etc., universally present in individual psyches.

The Axioms of Goddom

recognition of personal divinity (you are God)
recognition of universal divinity (that which is is God)
recognition of unity (we are one)
transcendence of paradox (brings unity)
conscious embrace of your path
recognition that you are:
eternal (you alway have been)
immortal (you always will be)
omnipotent (you effect everything)
prescient (you foresee the future)

Alan Watts' letter of resignation to the Episcipal Church

He makes a lot of good points on why people choose to follow the church, and why it just didn't work out for him. Good enough, at least, that I thought somebody could learn something from it. Happy reading!
